About Us
MONIA.
Monia began in 2018 as Creative Flow, a creative writing program designed to teach youth the technical skills of writing while encouraging self-expression. Since then, it has evolved into Monia—a dynamic platform at the intersection of creativity and wellness. Our mission is to redefine wellness by exploring its deep connections to creativity, culture, food, fitness, education, music, and more. We bring this vision to life through global pop-ups, immersive retreats, and one-on-one sessions that foster meaningful connections and promote holistic well-being. Monia is also deeply rooted in education, offering long-term programming and wellness coordination for schools, individuals, and women-centered communities. Our focus is on building discipline and providing practical tools for self-care, academic success, career development, and personal growth. Through strategic partnerships with educational institutions and community organizations, we offer comprehensive support that includes academic and career planning, cultivating healthy habits, and developing self-advocacy skills. We also curate wellness workshops and events that empower students and educators alike to integrate well-being into every area of their lives.

Understand Our Name: Monia
Monia (pronounced MAH-nee-uh, /ˈmɒ.ni.ə/) — with the “o” sound like in “pot” or “lot”
The name Monia is a meaningful, symbolic creation inspired by multiple African linguistic roots that beautifully reflect our core mission of community, empowerment, and connection. It blends the elements “Mo,” meaning “people” or “we,” and “Nia,” meaning “purpose” or “intent.” This kind of linguistic blending is common in naming, conveying layered meanings that go beyond any single language or culture. While Monia is not a widely documented word specifically meaning “community” in one African language, it draws on meaningful roots from Bantu and West African languages, combining ideas of people, purpose, and unity. This aligns perfectly with our commitment to building inclusive, supportive spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and connected. Just as community is central to healing and wellness, Monia embodies the spirit of collective care and empowerment that guides everything we do. By choosing this name, we honor the strength found in unity and cultural heritage, reminding us that wellness grows best when we support one another.
